The Impact of AI on Filmmaking

AI is the technological evolution of this generation. AI is changing everything, especially filmmaking.

Because of AI, I can bring my first story to life.

Bearer of the White Dove is a story that has taken years for me to put on paper, much less bring it to a short series on YouTube. It is incredible how some typing can bring characters to life!

So, how did I do it? It’s simple. I utilized multiple AI tools for this creation:

MIDJOURNEY

I used Midjourney to create characters using real-life photos. One of the inspirations for the main character, Dariga Mametova, is a 21-year-old WWII hero named Aliya Moldagulova. She was a Kazakh female sniper who served in the Soviet Union. I did not intend to make the character look exactly like her, but I wanted the main character to have similar features. I also wanted the character’s ethnicity to be unique. Most Americans probably have never heard of Kazakhstan or met someone from that country. In addition, I wanted the character not only to have a unique ethnic background but also to live in a country where she is considered the minority. There are other reasons for this, but I'll leave it because I don’t want to spoil the series.

With Midjourney, I could also build worlds by just typing prompts. I was also able to create other characters without even needing pictures.

VIDU

Vidu is a Chinese AI video generator. It is the best video generator. I included all the pictures I wanted as inspiration from Midjourney into the “reference to video” feature. As a result, I was given multiple realistic 4-second videos. They were perfect for the scenes in each episode.

GRAMMARLY PRO

I chose to invest in Grammarly Pro because I would need an AI writing tool to help articulate my vision for each prompt and allow me to rewrite and edit all my projects to make them sound more creative and professional.

ELEVENLABS

I used this tool for all my sound effects and voice-over needs. The text-to-speech feature is an efficient way to bring voices to each character. Since I’m not a voice actor and have a unique voice, this feature worked best as opposed to the voice changer feature.

OTHER TOOLS THAT WERE NOT AI

Artlist IO

You can’t have a film or episodic series without a good soundtrack. In addition to lofi/chill beats and other popular genres for video creation, this service has a vast cinematic library. It was perfect for my series and brought emotion to my story.

PREMIERE PRO

I use Premiere Pro for all my video editing needs. I can edit voices from Eleven Labs based on where each character was in each scene. For example, there is a scene in the first episode where Dariga hears Sister Maria arguing with two Soviet Union soldiers as she is setting the table. I adjusted Sister Maria’s voice to make it sound like it was coming from outside, or at least far away. Then I adjusted the voice to a closer range when Dariga sneaks in to eavesdrop on the conversation.

Overall, just creating the first episode of this series was an adventure. I plan on using all these tools for more projects. I am in the process of creating more now as I type this blog. Feel free to follow my website or my YouTube channel, Shadow Resistance Entertainment, for more blogs and newsletters. The future is now. If you have a few thousand dollars, you can access tools to create cinematic projects that would have cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions (even billions). Aspiring movie producers, writers, and actors can get into the big leagues of entertainment!
